Delhi Mumbai Industrial corridor is an Indo-Japanese initiative to create a linear industrial development zone whichis supported by the Dedicated Freight Corridor for the logistic support on either side. The 1,483 Km long DMIC shall connect Mumbai to Delhi and shall pass through 82 districts ofsix states (Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh, Southern Haryana, Eastern Rajasthan, Eastern Gujarat, and Western Maharashtra ) in the interim. 17% of India's total area shall come under the influence of this massive infrastructure. The corridor shall cause a surge in the industrial development if India and accelerate the trading and manufacturing activities within the country. The DFC shall have an influence zone on either side of the railway lines which shall serve as locations for special industrial nodes and act as catalyst for development of the region. The DFC aims to bring down the manufacturing cost along the DMIC to lowest in the world.

 

As per estimates, the corridor targets to generate 24 million new jobs by 2040, triple the industrial output within 9 years, double employment in 7 years and quadruple exports over a period of 8-9 years. Envisaged as the global trading and manufacturing hub, 24 industrial nodes have been proposed along the DMIC. The investment nodes have been planned along the corridor to facilitate the following activities seamlessly and facilitate industrial activities in the region
